Literature Text

Lights on in the city
City lights
And I can't feel the rain anymore
Even though it's falling
All the time
Cause it's falling all the time
City lights and rain

Lakes in the streets
Kicking through it
Sitting in it

It rained last night
And I saw it
Couldn't feel it
But I saw it

Wasn't under no umbrella
Just standing in the rain
Numb to the pain

I wanted to hate you
Just half as much
As I hate myself
But I can't
Just can't

I promise
I heard you yelling, yeah
But I couldn't feel it
Didn't care
It's so old
I didn't care
It's nothing new

And I went out today
And yesterday
With her again
With him again
Just doing whatever
Whatever we wanted
Just being fools
Of course
Not feeling the rain
hiding out from you
Wishing I was
Just as invisible
As you make me feel

Playing in reflecting pools
The rain, the colors

I couldn't take it
Couldn't handle you
Not anymore
So I went out
Again

I didn't sleep the other night
I heard you crying
Yeah I heard it
And I couldn't make up my mind

Tell you it'll be all right
Or let you fall apart
So, I guess
It's what you get

I'm running out of time
To say goodbye
No, can't be
It's all in my head
I'm just so preoccupied
With you and the rain
It'll be okay

And I stood outside today
City lights on my face
Reflecting off the rain

Red and yellow
Blue and green
Colors of the light

I saw it
Couldn't feel it
But I saw it
This is just... about a daughter and her mother mostly.
I don't know how to explain it.

It's MUCH different from my normal work.

The 'rain' has two meanings in this. It's actual rain and it's life in a way...
I'm not sure, take it as you will.

I was thinking of Megan when I wrote it, because I thought if kind of reflected her in a way. Especially the part about running out of time to say goodbye.
I think she'll get it, and how I relate it to her.

Take it as you will.
